AgriLeader
LEADING THE WAY
In the spring 2018 semester of my undergraduate degree program I served as an Editor-in-Chief for the AgriLeader Magazine. The AgriLeader is the official magazine of the Texas A&M University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

An agriculture communications and journalism course develops the magazine as a group with a leadership team.

We worked together to curate stories, create visual components and sell advertisements to fund the production of the magazine.

I served as Editor-in-Chief in conjunction with a partner. Together, every final decision in the magazine was our own.

I oversaw the stories, but focused on the visual components of the magazine. Subsequently, many photos, including the cover photo, are my own. Many of the designs were created by myself and/or the design editor.
TEACHING WHAT I LOVE
In the spring of 2020, I had the honor of being a teaching assistant for the AgriLeader magazine course. The students making up the team blew me away, from the leadership to the quality of storytelling within the publication.
Of course, we all know what happened that spring. We told our students to have a safe spring break, and never saw them in person again. There were many challenges that semester, but never being able to see my students again was one of the hardest I faced.
Nonetheless, these students persevered! In the time of peak separation and isolation, they came together better than I could have imagined. As much as I would like to take credit for helping lead them through this unforeseen challenge, all credit goes to their ability to pivot and continue to connect with one another.
