Texas A&M University College of Engineering
The college of engineering at Texas A&M University is the university's largest college with over 14 departments and 19,000 students.
For two years I worked as a communications specialist student worker supporting internal college programs in all aspects of communications. I applied my undergraduate degree's skills to write stories highlighting students, faculty, programs and news. My photography abilities allowed me to capture compelling images to accompany my stories, generate social media content and bring the faces of engineering to graphic design works I created. Social media content generation consumed a large portion of my time; I live-Snapchatted events, using stickers, text, graphics and other tools in Snapchat to engage and inform the platform's mainly-student audience. I created tailored posts to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as well.

A notable series I completed on Instagram highlighted individual students in the College of Engineering. The Saturday Shoutout Series consisted of me interviewing engineering students and capturing a photo of them, generally in the exact environment I found them in. They told their stories of why they are engineers, and what brought them to the college. This series was one of my favorite tasks I had with this position.
AN EYE FOR DESIGN

During this position my design skills blossomed. I gained confidence in Adobe programs and well practiced in creating cohesive, attractive and communicative visual documents.

Here are some samples of the many flyers, banners, graphics, booklets and pamphlets I created.

Finding stories, conducting interviews, gathering information and writing cohesive stories grounded my writing skills in practice.
GETTING SOCIAL

Social media posts display my graphic design and photography abilities, while staying on-brand and tailoring communication through different social channels.

Below are some examples of my work across multiple platforms.
SATURDAY SHOUT OUT SERIES

This series highlighted current students at the COE and helped connect consumers with our social media channels while introducing one of their peers. They were well-received by the account's followers.
